El avance de la investigación en Ciencias Cognitivas es visto, desde la Filosofía de la Mente, como una oportunidad para colocar viejas interrogantes bajo una nueva perspectiva y como generador de inquietudes filosóficas originales. En este curso se pretende i) plantear algunas de las preguntas filosóficas fundamentales en torno a la idea de lo mental bajo la luz de la investigación empírica y ii) presentar debates actuales específicamente dirigidos a la dilucidación de las características propias de esta clase de investigación.

Objetivos formativos:

Se espera que el curso contribuya a que el estudiante:

- se familiarice con las concepciones de lo mental que se ajustan en mayor o menor medida con las técnicas de investigación desarrolladas desde las Ciencias Cognitivas y comprenda algunas de las objeciones que les son inherentes.

- identifique el tipo de preguntas que surgen, desde la Filosofía, como consecuencia de los resultados científicos obtenidos.

- adquiera la habilidad de adoptar sin dificultad una perspectiva general y, crítica de su posición como futuro investigador.

-se vea alentado a buscar las formas más claras y rigurosas de concebir su objeto de estudio y presentar sus resultados.

Metodología:

En la mayoría de las clases serán presentados por parte de los alumnos (de manera grupal y/o individual) algunos de los textos claves. Cuando el tema lo amerite se buscará analizar en la misma clase, y mediante dos instancias de presentación, posiciones enfrentadas. El tipo de bibliografía sugerida habilita la participación en clase y promueve el debate. Como dificultad debe notarse que se trata de bibliografía para la cual no suele encontrarse traducción al español. La plataforma EVA será utilizada para contrarrestar esta dificultad, mediante la presentación de guías y el uso del foro.

Dispositivos de evaluación:

Se realizarán dos parciales individuales. Se evaluará la comprensión de los textos y la capacidad de aportar insumos a los debates considerados. Se controlará asistencia al 80% de las clases dictadas.
